I was listening to Calvary Chapel Pastor Raul Ries’ program the other day. He is such an awesome teacher and wonderful blessing to the church. But at the end of his program his announcer made this announcement (or something like this). “You can receive Pastor Raul’s series on two gigabytes …….flash drive.” You notice that I did not remember the whole package deal that was being offered. Somewhere I had lost it after the two gigabytes……but I did hear the “flash drive.”
I understand that there are many who understand and can comprehend what all of that means, but for me……I don’t have a clue. I will assume that it offers a lot of memory and that it must be fast. You see, “I no speak’a dat language so well.” That does not mean that there aren’t many who do understand it. But to me that announcer may just have well been speaking to me in Swahili.
It made me realize that there are so many people in the world who cannot comprehend nor understand the language that we sometimes speak: “Christianeze.” I know, I probably just made up a new word. But many people, who have not had their hearts and minds opened by the Holy Spirit, do not understand the spiritual things of which we speak. Paul said that it only seems foolishness to them.
Can I offer this suggestion? When conveying the Gospel that has been entrusted to you, be so led by the Holy Spirit as to begin each day in prayer that those who will be listening to you will have their hearts open by the Spirit of God so that they will hear and receive the things of God that will lead them to the salvation that Christ alone brings. This is of the utmost importance because without the work of the Holy Spirit going before us to prepare many souls, all of our words may sound like Swahili to them too.
Two gigabytes…..flashdrive? I could learn what all of that means, technically speaking. But to apply its significance, I must experience its intent.
May the Lord so prepare our hearts daily to grow in His grace and the knowledge of His will and to be able to present the Good News of Christ Jesus to so many who have never understood its significance for their lives in face of eternity.
